Alutiiq speakers gather to discuss future of language

About half of the remaining Kodiak Alutiiq language speakers gathered
Thursday along with Alutiiq language learners and partner
organizations to discuss current and future projects to keep the
language alive and thriving for future generations.

The Alutiiq Language Summit was also an opportunity to reflect on what
has been accomplished in the course of the Alutiiq Museum’s Living
Words project, funded for the past four years by a grant from the
National Science Foundation. Grant funding will end in June.
