INDIGENOUS publishing company Batchelor Press, along with the
Bendictine Community at new Norcia, is working towards Nyoongar
language revival across Western Australia with the release this week
of two new books on Nyoongar language and country.

Nyoongar is one of the largest language groups in Australia and
includes 13 clans of which three main dialects are recognised today,
with increasing numbers of Nyoongar and Wadjula people wanting to
learn the Nyoongar language of their particular region.

Batchelor Press is the specialty in-house publishing division of
Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education.

They have been working with the Nyoongar people in WA over the past
six years on an Endangered Languages Project to rebuild and revive the
languages.
