NEW ORLEANS —An estimated 7,000 languages might vanish from the globe by
the end of this century.

When New Orleans-born Native American Grayhawk Perkins launched his project
13 Moons, he vowed to save the ancient language of Mobilian.

The language has been spoken for centuries in south Louisiana, but is now
on the verge of extinction.
