<b><i>Position Summary:</i></b>
<P>The University of Arizona, Department of Language, Reading & Culture, seeks a full-time Program Coordinator, Senior for the American Indian Language Development Institute (AILDI). The AILDI is a four-week summer teacher preparation program in American Indian linguistics and bilingual/multicultural curriculum development, with significant outreach and recruitment/retention functions throughout the academic year. </P></td></tr>

<B><I>Duties and Responsibilities:</I></B>
<UL><LI>Coordinate and administer the American Indian Language Development Institute (AILDI), including fiscal responsibility (preparation and control of program budget) and decision-making based on programmatic goals and fiscal considerations.<LI>Supervise, monitor, and provide technical advice and support to subordinate staff.<LI>Write proposals to fund program activities, as needed.<LI>Prepare, design, and edit promotional literature and other informational documents on the program.<LI>Recruit for Institute, College of Education, and Native American programs.<LI>Provide other service and outreach, as needed, including recruitment, retention, and Indian education committee work.<LI>Prepare periodic reports, financial statements, records, and evaluations of program effectiveness.<LI>Facilitate and assist in curriculum development for Institute coursework.<LI>Develop and facilitate workshops, meetings, and conferences impacting state, local, and national/international constituencies.<LI>Interact regularly with students, faculty, staff, and outside/community agencies and tribes to facilitate program objectives.<LI>Develop and implement new program goals, objectives, and activities, as needed.<LI>Conduct periodic needs assessments with tribal communities and schools to determine appropriate Institute response.<LI>Develop and maintain management systems and work plans for the program; coordinate through appropriate staff.<LI>Review participant applications for selection of AILDI scholarships.<LI>Write and distribute annual Institute reports to appropriate faculty and staff.<LI>Participate in professional development activities, as appropriate.<LI>Coordinate the development and implementation of appropriate Institute policies and procedures. </li></UL></td></tr>

<B><I>Minimum Qualifications:</I></B>
<UL><LI>Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND four years administrative/coordinative program experience; OR,<LI>Master's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND three years administrative/coordinative program experience; OR,<LI>Eight years of progressively responsible administrative/ coordinative program experience. </UL></td></tr>

<B><I>Preferred Qualifications:</I></B>
<UL><LI>Doctorate degree in relevant field.<LI>Proficient in a Native American language.<LI>Knowledge of higher education institutions.<LI>Knowledge of UA on-line systems (Financial Records System, Student Information System, and electronic mail).<LI>Knowledge of UA graduate and undergraduate degree admission requirements and guidelines.<LI>Knowledge of and experience working with Southwest American Indian schools and communities.<LI>Proven organizational skills with the ability to perform well under demanding circumstances.<LI>Experience in education (preferably American Indian education) program administration.<LI>Grant and contract writing experience.<LI>Public speaking and presentation skills.<LI>Proficient with IBM-compatible computers and software (Microsoft Windows, Word Perfect, MS Office software, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Excel). </UL></td></tr>
