font-family:Arial'>KANESATAKE, July 26, 2006 – After living many dividing
events, Kanesatake people welcomed today the launching of a web tool that will
bring people together, using Mohawk language and culture. Kanesatake is now the
first Kanien’kehaka (Mohawk) community, and one of very few First Nation
communities, to have a trilingual language learning experience on the web. This
new and innovative tool will bring an awareness of the value and richness of
the Mohawk culture and heritage, linking both people on and off Kanesatake’s
territory. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

<p class=MsoNormal><font size=2 face=Arial><span style='font-size:10.0pt;
font-family:Arial'>This project is a joint-partnership between First Voices
Cultural Foundation (<st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">British Columbia</st1:place></st1:State>)
and the Mohawk Language Custodian Association, created in 1999 to preserve,
protect and promote the Mohawk language. “This project is of great
importance, not only to promote the Mohawk Language and Culture, but also to bring
together a community divided between French and English speaking groups”
said Grand Chief Steven Bonspille, at the official launching done today in
Kanesatake. Many dozens of interested people came at this “open door”
to attend a hands-on demonstration of this technological tool. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

font-family:Arial'>Using cutting edge technology and innovative archiving, the
website allows anyone around the world to explore the Mohawk language through words
(more than 500), phrases, stories, songs and games. There are also pictures of
cultural artifacts and community places. This exploration of the Mohawk language
can be done in English or French. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

(Mohawk language) in the language section. With this tool, it is easy to learn
