<p><font face="Times New Roman" size="3"><span style="font-size: 12pt;">We are
deeply saddened to report that Dr. Robert W. Young, who devoted his life to the
Navajo language and people, passed away peacefully on Tuesday February 20th at
the age of 95. Among his many accomplishments was the compilation, together
with William Morgan, Sr., of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Navajo-Language-Grammar-Colloquial-Dictionary/dp/0826310141/ref=ed_oe_h/102-4023778-4902562" target="_blank" onclick="return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)">
The
Navajo Language: a Grammar and Colloquial Dictionary</a> and the <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Analytical-Lexicon-Navajo-Robert-Young/dp/0826313566" target="_blank" onclick="return top.js.OpenExtLink(window,event,this)">
Analytical
Lexicon of Navajo</a>, which together are widely considered to have made Navajo
the best documented of any native American language. He was a great linguist, a
fluent speaker of Navajo, and a kind and generous man. </span></font></p>
