Speaking of which, it's interesting to see the degree of archaism in the
Mycenaean Greek of the Linear B tablets.  Some of the vocabulary is
strikingly close to the PIE originals.

An enormous pity we have so little written, and that that doesn't include
anything but economic documents -- some poetry or epics would be very
valuable.
