Dark L in Portuguese

 There is no need to specify Brazilian as the variety of Portugugese that has
dark final Ls.

 The approximation to /u/ is shared with European Portuguese. European
Portuguese tends to swallow the sound vigorously, but the sound it swallows
is the same. The minimal pair would be mau and mal, which have fallen
together in all positions, including pre-vocalic, in both European Portuguese
and Brazilian.
