On biology and historical linguistics:  a reminder, that

is very far from accepted, acceptable, or workable.  It ignores
psychological and political factors (already discussed recently on this
list).

I write because whoever posted that snippet seemed to be assuming that this
definition had the same validity as the parallel in Biology - which it
certainly does not.
