cue competition in Japanese

One of my students is interested in cue competition in sentence processing
in Japanese.  Cues of interest are: argument order, and presence
(vs. omission) of case-marking particles.  Does anyone know if any work
has been done on this topic in Japanese (similar to that in MacWhinney &
Bates 1989)?  She would be most grateful for any leads.  You can reply to
