The Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology at Miami University is seeking an innovative and energetic teacher and scholar with a research and teaching focus in one or more of the following: phonology and phonetics, language, motor-speech disorders, fluency, AAC or literacy.  The College of Arts and Science welcomes candidates from all backgrounds who will be expected to play a role in connecting research and clinical strategies to an increasingly diverse community at Miami.  We are looking for someone with demonstrated commitment to experimentation, creativity and the full range of communication disorders study in a liberal arts setting.  The Department highly values writing across the curriculum.  Responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses while maintaining active scholarship endeavors, and directing student research.  University resources are offered for faculty development and teaching effectiveness, and research start-up funds are available.  An earned doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology is expected; ABDs will be considered, and the doctorate must be completed by the time of the full-time tenure-track appointment in Fall 2011.

Miami University is located in Oxford, Ohio, within 50 minutes of both Cincinnati and Dayton.  The Department is situated within the dynamic and inclusive environment of the College of Arts and Sciences (consisting of 24 departments and 6 multicultural centers).  The University awards baccalaureate degrees in 97 fields, masters’ degrees in 67, and doctoral degrees in 10 disciplines.  Applicants with CCC-SLP certification, and eligibility for Ohio licensure preferred.  Application screening begins November 10, 2010.
