It is with great sadness and a deep sense of loss that I would like to inform you of the passing of

Professor Grace Wales Shugar (born May 10, 1918 in Canada, died August 19, 2013 in Poland),

a distinguished scholar in the field of language acquisition and children's discourse, founder and leader of the Warsaw school of developmental psycholinguistics.
