Dear Info-CHILDES,

There is an opening now for a new SRO (Scientific Review Officer) at NIH. In fact, NIH plans to hire 5 new SROs, but one of these five would deal specifically with proposals reviewed by the LCOM (Language and Communication) Study Section. The link for the online application is:

https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/345480000

Please note that the job is open for 5 days, including the weekend. It closes on Monday evening (June 17). The short opening period is the standard government practice now and this does not mean that there are already internal, or identified candidates. This is an open and transparent competition. The application process is done online and pretty straightforward. In addition to candidates in the cognitive science and language areas to fill the LCOM vacancy, there are openings in the drug/alcohol abuse/addiction prevention and intervention areas. If you know of anyone who is interested in this position, please forward the following link and encourage him/her to apply. Having a well-qualified person in this position is important for maintaining the high quality of language-related reviewing at NIH.
