Hi
You can also look at Virginie Laval's work (University of Poitiers in
France) who worked on idiom comprehension both by typically developping
and SLI children. See for example :
Laval, V. (2003). Idiom comprehension and metapragmatic knowledge in French
children. Journal of Pragmatics, 35(5), 723-739.
Bernicot, J., Laval, V., & Chaminaud, S. p. (2007). Nonliteral language
forms in children: In what order are they acquired in pragmatics and
metapragmatics? Journal of Pragmatics, 39(12), 2115-2132
Laval, V., de Weck, G., Chaminaud, S., & Lacroix, A. (2009). Context and
Idiom Comprehension: A Study in French-Speaking Children With a
Phonologic-Syntactic Dysphasia. Swiss Journal of Psychology, 68(1), 51-60.
best wishes
