<P class=MsoNormal align=left> The Bamford-Lahey Children’s Foundation is
again pleased to announce the availability of scholarship funds of up to $10,000
per recipient per year for doctoral students specializing in children’s language
disorders.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Scholarships will be
awarded on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis without regard to race,
color, age, religion, or sex.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN>Grants will be competitive and selection will be made by the Foundation
using the application materials submitted by the applicant.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Criteria for selecting scholars will
include an evaluation of the applicant’s ability to complete the doctoral
program and the potential promise of the candidate as a teacher-investigator who
will contribute to both educating clinicians and to our knowledge of the field
of children’s language disorders.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN></P>
<P class=MsoNormal align=left> Funds may be used for any activities that
are related to completion of the doctoral program including: a) tuition, fees,
books and supplies related to courses; b) transportation to classes or assigned
projects; c) room and board if student is not living at home; d) childcare while
attending classes; and e) dissertation research expenses if the topic of the
dissertation is related to the objectives of the foundation.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The scholarship funds are not loans and
if used for the purposes approved by the Foundation do not require
repayment.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Furthermore, no work
requirement may be attached to the receipt of this scholarship aid.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Both full-time and part-time students
are eligible and applicants may request any amount of funds up to $10,000.</P>
<P class=MsoNormal align=left> In order to apply, applicants should:</P>
<P class=MsoNormal align=left> Be accepted in a doctoral program at an
accredited university that offers a specialization in children’s language
disorders including an emphasis on research skills</P>

emphasis on children’s language disorders) at a college or university<SPAN

<DIV align=left>Hold CCC-SLP from ASHA or equivalent certification from
another country</DIV></LI></UL>
<P class=MsoNormal align=left>Students who are thinking of applying should
immediately request sealed copies of official transcripts from colleges attended
so the transcripts will be received in time to include with their
application.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Further information

same site. There are some changes in application and instructions from those

</SPAN>Deadline for reception of completed applications (including transcripts
and recommendations) is April 1, 2003.</P>
