of Language Acquisition' discuss the cultural context of acquisition and the
nature (or absence) of child directed speech. My own chapter on Warlpiri (in
volume 3) discusses the context of acquisition for a, mainly, non literate
group. Child directed speech is not common. Clifton Pye has written about
