</b>The Bangor Dyslexia Unit is an independent specialised unit within
the dynamic and rapidly expanding School of Psychology. The
School is one of the leading academic departments in UK
Psychology.<br>
<br>
The unit is self-financing, nationally and internationally renowned
and was one of the first units of the kind to be established combining
research into dyslexia with clinical work. This was based on
groundbreaking work by the acclaimed Professor Tim Miles OBE who began
work on dyslexia in the 1960s.<br>
<br>
The Unit is active in all fields of dyslexia work including screening
and assessment. It provides information on dyslexia to the
general public, supports students with dyslexia within the University,
and provides a teaching service to local education authorities as well
as training teachers for work with dyslexic children. <br>
<br>
In order to develop the assessment service further, the Dyslexia Unit
wishes to appoint a full-time Chartered Educational Psychologist to
carry out psychological and educational assessments of children and
adults. The post will be for four years in the first
instance.<br>
<br>
The successful candidate should have interest and experience in the
field of dyslexia and a broad knowledge of learning difficulties in
general. There may be opportunities to combine assessment work
with development of teaching and research activities. A command
of Welsh would be advantageous but is not essential.<br>
<br>
It is essential that the successful applicant be a Chartered
Educational Psychologist, or have an application pending.<br>
<br>
The Unit is also interested in appointing Educational Psychologists to
work on a sessional basis.<br>
