</x-tab>The School of Psychology at the University of Wales, Bangor
seeks to make appointments at the level of Lecturer, Senior Lecturer
or Chair [equivalent to Asst., Assoc., or Full Professor in the US
system] in the areas of<u> Child Development, Language,
Dyslexia/Literacy Development</u>,<u> Language Disorders</u>,
and/or<u> the Neuroscience of Language</u>. The successful candidate
will have obtained a Ph. D. and will have a proven track record of
research output. Applicants will teach in the area of Language or
Development and will be expected to maintain an active research
programme, including external grant support. For
candidates with expertise and a proven track record in
Dyslexia/Literacy Development or in Language Disorders, there is the
possibility of consideration for the Directorship of the Dyslexia
Unit, which has both a research and an applied mission.</font></div>
<div><font face="Times" size="+2" color="#000000"><br>
<x-tab> </x-tab>In the area
of Cognitive Neuroscience the School has a strong research group of
approximately 20 people - including researchers working in language
and language development as well as in perception, attention, memory,
object recognition, emotion, ageing, consumer choice, clinical
neuroscience, and the control of action; it is now seeking to further
strengthen the areas of language and development. Researchers in the
School use multiple and varied approaches to the study of cognitive
neuroscience including experimental and observational studies of
behaviour, patient populations, ERP, TMS, and fMRI. The School enjoys
the highest research rating that can be obtained in the UK (RAE 5*) as
well as the highest teaching rating ("Excellent"). The Centre for
Cognitive Neuroscience is located within a modern purpose-built
facility, The Brigantia Building, which will provide accommodation for
a 3T magnet. The University of Wales, Bangor is located in rural North
Wales between the sea and the mountains and offers a range of outdoor
