The
School of Audiology and Speech Sciences at The University of British
Columbia has an opening for a tenure-track position at the rank of
Assistant Professor, starting <b>July 1, 2008.</b> Primarily
located in Vancouver, a vibrant multicultural city renowned for its
natural beauty, UBC is among the best and largest of Canada's
universities. The School
(<a href="http://www.audiospeech.ubc.ca/" eudora="autourl">
www.audiospeech.ubc.ca</a>) is expanding, with new faculty on board, new
lab spaces in place, and a significant space expansion occurring Summer
2008. In addition to Ph.D. and post-doctoral education, the School offers
an intensive two-to-three-year program of graduate coursework (Audiology
and Speech-Language Pathology), research, and supervised community-based
clinical practice leading to the M.Sc. degree. Duties of the new faculty
member will include: research; instruction in the area of <b>child
language, developmental language disorders and clinical practice</b>; and
University/School service. The successful applicant will have<b> </b>a
Ph.D. or equivalent degree, evidence of scholarly excellence, and
demonstrated potential in teaching excellence at the undergraduate and
graduate level. <b>Applicants must have expertise in child language
and developmental language disorders. </b>Preference will be given to
candidates who meet these criteria, and also have a clinical
qualification that conforms to Canadian Standards for practice in
speech-language pathology. Salary will be commensurate with
qualifications. This position is subject to final budgetary
approval.<br />
