my book on pennies are pertinent/) So if you remember the example I used, one just has to add numbers:<br> <br>There are five children playing in the yard and five children outside. <br>[two children inside have hats, and one outside]<br>
Do three have hats?<br><br>One could answer "no" if one reconstructs [do 3 children outside] have hats? These ambiguities<br>are all over the place in children's math problems, and teachers often do not see them.<br>

This is a 5-year research project, funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. The goal is to develop and test an evidence-based number sense and vocabulary intervention for young children.<br>

We are seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic, and organized professional to assist with the daily operations of the project. Initial employment is for one year and is renewable annually up to four years. The position will involve coordinating with the participating school district, assisting with the development of the number sense curriculum, coordinating graduate assistants, participating in data collection, managing our data and website, and collaborating with the team on research papers for publication and presentation.<br>

The qualified candidate should possess:<br>

· Bachelor's degree minimum in education, psychology, or a related field<br>
<br>
· Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills<br>
<br>
· Ability to work independently as well as part of a team<br>
<br>
· Competence with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SPSS (or other statistical packages)<br>
<br>
· Ability to use and learn new technology<br>
<br>
· Past experience with and interest in research<br>
<br>
· Strong communication skills, both oral and written<br>
<br>
· Experience working with young children<br>
<br>
· Expertise or interest in children's math, language. and learning difficulties<br>
