The article above it, however, shows an improvement in test scores over 5 years.<BR>

One problem is of course again distribution. If highly literate homes have the same number, or slightly fewer, books than previously, but children’s books are overall more cheaper (like all leisure goods, they now represent a much smaller proportion of take-home pay), then poorer families are going to be able to afford them more readily.<BR>
