Description:
As Manager of UI Design, you will be responsible for the overall 
quality of the Voice User Interface (VUI). You will manage a team 
of talented UI designers in a hands-on fashion, focused on 
creating a successful user experience through natural and 
compelling interfaces, while meeting customers' goals of reducing 
costs and increasing automation rates.
You will apply industry-leading standards for user engagement, 
expert knowledge of linguistic principles and speech recognition, 
synthesis, and dialog technology.
The role requires people with an aptitude to consider the bigger 
picture, an innovative nature, and the determination to deliver 
quality & value to the customer. Successful candidates will 
possess the ability to work effectively with employees, clients, 
contractors, subject matter experts, & engineers.

Responsibilities:
- Provide managerial direction to UI Designers; mentoring, 
performance reviews, resource allocation
- Manage both local & remote team members composed of designers, 
translators, voice talents, studios, & test engineers
- Ensure that the groups produces UI Designs that exceed 
expectations of quality, and are delivered on time, while also 
contributing to effective speech user interface designs, 
specifying call flow, dialogs, and prompts in a hands-on fashion 
when appropriate
- Assist in implementing designs, working with developers where 
necessary, directing voice talents, processing audio, and 
performing QA reviews of prompt inventories and applications
- Lead the development of processes and best practices in UI Design
- Work with managers of other groups to ensure effective 
communication, workflow, and overall success to deliver internal 
project deliverables on schedule
- Ensure implementation of desirable design changes discovered in 
tuning, usability, and in the field
- Provide accurate & realistic estimates for budget and schedule 
for upcoming projects

Required Skills:
- Advanced Degree in Linguistics, Cognitive Psychology, or Human 
Computer Interaction
- 5+ years of experience in Voice User Interface Design in 
Interactive Voice Response (IVR)
- 2+ years of management experience
- Dynamic and decisive leader, who creates clear goals, fosters 
accountability and ownership, leads by example and builds loyalty
- Team player that works well with others, both within the UI 
group and across other groups
- Experience designing voice dialogs for telephony applications, 
including creating call flow diagrams, detailed dialog design 
specifications, and prompts
- Must be able to communicate effectively, written and verbal, be 
decisive, pay attention to detail, take ownership, and engage on 
multiple levels across functional groups and follow through
- Ability to translate information architecture & business 
requirements into Voice Interaction Designs
- Experience in usability testing & user research
- Understanding of speech recognition technologies

Past Experience:
- Design interactions and create voice prompts to elicit 
appropriate successful responses
- Design usability studies and recommend improvements based on 
observations
- Write voice prompts, design call flows, and coach voice talent
- Design, implement and report usability assessments, including 
focus groups, recognition testing, and usability testing
- Experience with coaching voice talents & audio editing
- Knowledge of existing & future technologies relevant to voice 
applications

Nice to have:
- Fluent in Spanish, English
- An understanding of Speech Recognition Application Lifecycle 
Development
