Description:
Soka University of America seeks an Assistant Professor of 
Spanish, Tenure-track. Beginning August 1, 2009.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics/Linguistics, Spanish 
Applied Linguistics required by the time of hiring. Research and 
expertise in one or two of the following areas of Spanish 
Linguistics: morphology, syntax, discourse, pragmatics, and 
second language acquisition. Candidates with training and 
experience in second language assessment, and computer assisted 
language learning (CALL) are highly desirable. Candidates must 
have native command of Spanish as well as commitment to and 
excellence in teaching Spanish and language and culture courses. 
Excellence in research/publications also required.

Duties: The appointee is expected to teach Spanish language and c 
culture courses at the undergraduate level, work with colleagues 
on the continuous development of the Spanish Program, and conduct 
academic research. The ability to teach across disciplines and 
work with colleagues from other areas in multi-disciplinary 
curriculum development is important.

The university requires all students to take four semesters of a 
foreign language and one semester of study abroad.
