/><b>Descripción</b><br /><p> Post-doctoral fellowship for a
linguist at the Institut langage et communication of the Université
Catholique de Louvain (Belgium).<br /><br />Source and Goal of the
fellowship: Fonds speciaux de recherche de l’Académie Universitaire
Louvain (Bélgica). The stimulation of international mobility and the
attraction of researchers from abroad is one of the priorities of the
European Research Area.<br />The Académie universitaire Louvain (AUL)
is contributing to this objective by granting post-doc fellowships to
highly qualified foreign scientists inviting them to work in a Belgian
research team during a certain period of time. The ultimate aim is to
establish S&T collaborations and lasting networks between the
respective research teams.<br /><br />Reception research unit:
Institut Langage et communication of The Université Catholique de
Louvain <a href="http://www.uclouvain.be/ilc.html"
target="_blank">http://www.uclouvain.be/ilc.html</a><br />Duration of
the fellowship: from 12 to 24 months.<br />Commencement date: October
2011 or later.<br />Deadline for submitting applications for the
fellowship: January 201.<br /><br />Remuneration: from 2050 up to 2194
EUR per month depending on the years of experience (taxes free).<br
/><br />Project: The candidate is expected to collaborate with myself
in a research project in the field of sociolinguistics and/or
discourse analysis on oral (and written) data in Spanish (or in
Spanish in contact with other languages). The topic of the project is
still to be defined. The idea is to build together a project (the
candidate and myself) and to have it ready for the deadline for
applying for the post-doc grant, that is, January 2011.<br /><br />My
research interests: I am interested in studying language not for its
own sake but in order to research the effect of linguistic choices on
social situations, specially in gatekeeping encounters (such as asylum
seekers’ interviews I have analysed for my phd supervised by Teun
Van Dijk. (see a summary of my phd thesis on <a

target="_blank">http://www.uclouvain.be/isabel.gomezdiez</a>).<br
/><br />Eligibility criteria:<br />The applicant:<br />- Has not spent
more than 24 months, out of the last 3 years in Belgium.<br />- Has an
academic background in linguistics and a phd in linguistics or where
linguistics played a mayor role.<br />- Holds a doctor’s degree or
(s)he will defend his/her phd thesis before January 2011 and has
already published on the phd topic.<br />- Researchers with more than
10 years of research experience will not be eligible.<br />- Has
proven interests in sociolinguistics and/or discourse analysis.<br />-
Has knowledge in statistical analyse of quantitative date and/or
prosody in oral texts (and software related to both aspects) will be
highly appreciated.<br />- Has proven capacity of analysing data in
Spanish.<br />- Has proven capacity of writing papers in
