/><p> The ESRC Centre for Research on Bilingualism in Theory and
Practice (Bangor University) and the MOSAIC Centre for Research on
Multilingualism (University of Birmingham) are organizing a
Transcription Workshop for Early Career Researchers, with the aim of
introducing early career researchers and postgraduate students to the
process of transcribing recordings of adult bilingual speech using
CLAN (<a href="http://childes.psy.cmu.edu"
target="_blank">http://childes.psy.cmu.edu</a>). Participants will
have access to our three bilingual corpora (see <a
href="http://www.siarad.org.uk"
target="_blank">http://www.siarad.org.uk</a>) and will also learn how
to use some of the CLAN programs for analysis. <br /><br />Session 1:
Introduction to CHAT<br />Session 2: Hands-on transcription session
using CHAT<br />Session 3: Analysing bilingual corpora with CLAN<br
/>Session 4: Hands-on analysis session using CLAN <br /><br />Tuition
is free, but places are limited. Therefore, registration is required.
Participants pay their own travel and accommodation expenses.
