/>Descripción

This panel invites papers that address
the intersection between second language acquisition and
sociolinguistics. We would especially like research that considers the
effects of the extralinguistic variable of “setting” (e.g.,
traditional classroom, study-abroad, community service, web 2.0
technologies) on the development of sociolinguistic competence.
Possible topics include awareness of and sensitivity to cultural norms
and expectations, formality, register, style, or geographic and social
language variation.

The body of the abstract must be no
more than one page in length with a second page for examples and
references. Abstracts must clearly present a specific thesis statement
and include a description of topic, approach, and conclusions. Please
specify the title of the paper, name, academic affiliation, and email
in the abstract submission.

Área temática: Español
