/>Descripción

GABC is an initiative supported by three
partner universities: Eastern Michigan University, Universiti
Teknologi
Malaysia and the University of Antwerp. The GABC
Conference brings together academics and practitioners
interested
in communicative practices in business and organizational settings.

Contributions in languages other than English will also be
considered.

Keynote speakers include: Prof. Leena
Louhiala-Salminen (Aalto University, Helsinki), Prof. Paul
Matthyssens
(University of Antwerp) & Prof. Marinel Gerritsen
(Radboud University Nijmegen).

Call for Panel Proposals.
Deadline: 15 November 2012. Notification: 1 December 2012
Proposals: We invite panel proposals in any field of business
communication. Proposals should be no longer than
1000 words in
length and contain the following: a) the name(s) of the panel
convenor(s); b) a long and short title
for the panel; c) the
research questions to be addressed and an indication of theoretical
frameworks and
methodologies used; d) an overview of work being
done in the area and number of papers expected. Individual
paper
abstracts are not required at this stage.

Panel format:
Panels will cluster a number of independent papers converging on a
specialized theme. Panel
presentations will share the same format
as general papers (i.e. a 20-minute paper + time for discussion).
Each
panel will contain 6-10 presentation slots, ideally
including an introductory session with a summary of relevant
previous research, approaches, important research questions etc. and
a slot for a final discussion on the topic
covered by the panel,
methodological issues, perspectives for further research and possible
publication channels.
We particularly encourage proposals
exploring broadening or critical perspectives and methodological
issues, for
example: Modes of communication and their analysis
(e.g. multimodal analysis, embodiment, etc.); Business
communication practices in less-researched business settings (e.g.
maritime, legal, agribusiness); Micro v. macro
levels of analysis
and their methodological implications; Multilingualism,
plurilingualism and language perspectives
other than English;
Multi- and interdisciplinarity in business communication research -
possibilities and limitations.

Call for Papers/Posters.
Deadline: 24 January 2013. Notification: 15 February 2013
We
invite abstract submissions for paper and poster presentations on any
aspect of business communication. Each
paper presentation should
be no longer than 20 minutes (+ time for questions). Traditionally,
GABC encourages
contributions in the following strands:
International and cross-cultural business communication and
negotiations;
Global aspects of integrated marketing
communications (IMC); Communication aspects of international law
and
global business ethics; Languages and business communication;
E-semantics. However, papers outside these
strands will also be
considered. In a second circular at the beginning of December we will
announce the list of
approved panels. Paper submissions can then
be submitted for a particular panel.
We also envisage a poster
session in which Masters or PhD students are encouraged to present
some of their
findings. Please indicate clearly whether your
submission is for a paper or poster session.
Full papers
submitted to the scientific committee by 15 May 2013 will be
considered for the Best Paper Award, the
result of which will be
announced during the conference.

All submissions and
queries should be addressed to: GABC2013@ua.ac.be

For more
