/><b>Descripción</b><br /><p> Desde mediados del siglo XVI, la
Corona española intentó obtener una información uniforme y
organizada sobre los territorios de Ultramar a través del sistema de
cuestionarios. La respuesta de las autoridades indianas fue amplia y
fecunda y constituye un interesante corpus documental conocido como
Relaciones Geográficas. La riqueza de datos sobre el habla cotidiana
se manifiesta en las respuestas a los ítems del informe, al tiempo
que se inserta en una estructura organizada y precisa de tipo
administrativo.<br /><br />Este estudio hace una contextualización
del género documental utilizado y una descripción de sus
características lingüísticas y discursivas. Las Relaciones
evidencian las tendencias del léxico americano en el momento
histórico en que se inicia un proceso de reflexión sobre la lengua
del imperio. Se analiza de forma detallada la lengua y el léxico de
esta documentación, ofreciendo preferencias de su uso y vitalidad,
tanto en el ámbito americano como en el español general.</p><br
