/><b>Essential</b><br /><br />• PhD in an area of Spanish or Latin
American Studies. <br />• Native or near-native proficiency in
Spanish and English.<br />• Demonstrated capacity to develop and
teach undergraduate subjects in Spanish language for non-native
speakers.<br />• Demonstrated capacity to develop and use on-line
methods (e.g., LMS) in Spanish language teaching.<br
/>• Demonstrated capacity to contribute to teaching of subjects on
Spanish and/or Latin American culture and society. <br />• Capacity
to supervise honours and postgraduate students working with Spanish
language primary sources.<br />• Capacity to act as the Spanish
language program coordinator.<br />• Capacity to co ordinate
in-country programs.<br />• An excellent record of research
publications relative to opportunity.<br />• Demonstrated capacity
to work as a member of a team in a co operative and collegial
manner.<br />• Capacity to contribute to administration of the
School.<br /><br /><b>Desirable</b><br /> <br />• Success in
attracting external funding for research through either competitive
grants or consultancies.<br /><br /><br />The School of Humanities
wants to recruit an academic to teach Spanish to non-native speakers
and to contribute to the teaching of subjects on Spanish or Latin
American Studies, drawing on his or her specialist discipline. The
successful applicant will be expected to have and maintain a record of
research excellence relative to opportunity, to participate in the
School’s research activities, and to supervise honours and
postgraduate students.<br /><br />The Faculty of Humanities and Social
Sciences includes European Languages and Studies (Spanish, French,
Italian, Modern Greek, Ancient Greek, Latin and Mediterranean
Studies), Asian Languages and Studies, History, Linguistics, English,
Drama/Theatre, Media, Journalism, Strategic Communications,
Philosophy, Anthropology, Sociology, Politics, International
Development, and International Relations across 5 campuses. It is
strongly committed to maintaining and developing its teaching and
research capacity on Europe. <br /><br />Duties at this level may
include: <br /><br />• Develop, teach and coordinate subjects at
undergraduate, honours and postgraduate levels. <br />• Conduct and
publish research. <br />• Supervise honours or postgraduate research
students.<br />• Contribute to the administration of the School. <br
/>• Lead the School’s engagement to the community, in promoting
