/><p> El <i>Deaf Atlas</i> es un recurso electrónico que tiene como
objetivo ofrecer información actualizada y accesible sobre la vida de
las comunidades sordas y sus lenguas en todo el mundo. Actualmente
cuenta con el registro de 28 países, documentando la gran mayoría de
los países de América Latina. <br /><br />Los datos que aporta el
<i>Deaf Atlas</i> contemplan la información básica sobre el país,
las lenguas de señas que se usan en él, la documentación que se
tiene de las mismas; el número de sordos usuarios de la lengua de
señas; aspectos históricos de la lengua de señas y la comunidad
sorda, así como el sistema de educación que se oferta al sordo; y
los recursos de comunicación (subtítulos; interpretación) que se
disponen para este grupo. La información se presenta en tres lenguas:
alemán, inglés y español. Y, por último, ofrecen un enlace para
obtener más información y el acceso a distintas fuentes escritas o
en video, que permiten ahondar en un tema en particular. <br /><br
/>Este recurso se encuentra todavía en fase de construcción. Es un
proyecto auspiciado por una asociación alemana, el Instituto Auguste
Bébian e.V, cuyo objetivo es investigar, enseñar y desarrollar
proyectos para la eliminación de las barreras de comunicación que
aíslan del mundo a las personas con discapacidades
