In Azerbaijani (Turkic), a bat is "yarasa" (also Turkish), or "gecəquşu"
(gejagushu) = night-bird. The etymology of "yarasa" is not immediately
clear, but I see that several other Turkic languages have forms like
"yarghanat" which link to Azerbaijani "yarğan" = ravine. So the meaning
may well be something like ravine-dweller. Well, there's another
characteristic which may well have been noted in Eden, which has been
located by David Rohl in southern (Iranian) Azerbaijan.
