Maybe not many cultures, but they may be reasonably widespread: South
Africa and Namibia (African penguins and ostriches); Australia (little
penguins and emus); New Zealand (four penguin species and many
flightless birds); not sure about flightless birds in Chile or Peru
except that presumably now they are familiar with chickens. So the
hypothesis that cultures link these two types of bird might just be
testable.
