Fritz, your example is another illustrating a metaphorical extension of the
concept DOG based on the perceived characteristic behaviour of 'dogs'. But
there are some expressions in English, like "dull dog", "work like a dog",
"treated like a dog", "she's a dog", which are based on "dogs" being
despised creatures. That was why I asked the question about comestible dogs
and DOG metaphors.
