Simple Concordance Program

Simple Concordance Program (SCP) is a concordance program designed to
capture and record the occurrence of words in document and to "write"
(organize) each word into a list based upon the a simple set of
parameters. The kinds of organization or "writing" of words to a file
are based upon the elements of texts such as words and phrases and a
set of search criteria such as frequency (word counts) and orders
(alphabetic).

In terms of operation, SCP loads a (.txt) file and the user sets a
basic set of organizational parameters. From this point onward, the use
can then input and apply various search criteria to manipulate the text
document in various ways. The advantage of SCP, other than it being a
freeware software, is that it can assist teachers and language learners
to manipulate text in targeted ways. In terms of language
revitalization applications, it can be applied to language texts as a
means of creating vocabularies and organizing the grammatical structure
of texts. Thus, SCP is a power tool in terms of organizing basic texts
as for language documentation purposes and grammatical description. I
highly recommend it to anyone who is working in the area of language
documentation.
