Dear Fritz,

"Spanielska dedina" (Spanish village) is used in Slovak as well. In
Russian, as far as I know, "kitajskaja gramota" (Chinese literacy) is
the equivalent expression.

Both in Slovak and Czech technical/mathematical slang, there is an
expression "bulharska konstanta" (Bulgarian constant). It is a
number that, if applied to your result of a calculation, will produce
the expected result. (It works in cases when the teacher checks the
results of the calculations only, not the whole procedures.) The
etymology of this idiom is not clear.
