[Lexicog] Equivalents for German "Heimat"

"Terra natia", now that you mention it, at least has the
nostalgic/romantic component of Heimat, but (besides the fact that it
sounds quite archaic) its meaning is more narrow (land of birth).

Btw, Heimat nowadays has a slightly negative connotation in German, too,
right?
