[Lexicog] re: English-Vernacular dictionaries

I learned some years ago when I was writing a textbook on English linguistics
that to reproduce exactly the form and content of a dictionary entry (which I
wished to do for illustrative purposes to compare different editorial
practices),
it was necessary to seek permission from the dictionary publisher, and one,
at least, required that the entry be printed in the exact form in which it
appeared in the dictionary, for which they furnished a copy to be used.

Rather than seek an unverified opinion from an attorney specializing in this
field (are there enough to find one?), it would be simpler to go to the source
and simply write to the dictionary publisher directly with the question. You
will then receive a legally verifiable answer.
