Mike,

If Aranoff is correct, then we get two words for the price one:

-or form            BACKFORM  -ee form
mentor (n) ->    ment (v) ->       mentee (n)
donor (n) ->     don (v) ->         donee (n)
debtor (n) ->    debt (v) ->        debtee (n)
tutor (n) ->       tute (v) ->         tutee (n)

*edit (v)* was formed from *editor (n)* after all.

There is an alternative derivation available from *mentor (v)* and
*tutor (v)* of

mentor (v) -> mentoree (n)
tutor (v) -> tutoree (n)

But from the google stats this seems less popular than the (n) -> (v) ->
(n) derivation. Maybe this is because of the mismatch of lexical
categories. *mentoree (n)* is derived from *mentor (v)* but then it has
to contrast with *mentor (n)*. Also two for one is a better deal. :-)
