I believe it's synonymous with 'rasp' in 'raspberry' and 'straw' in 
'strawberry'; also , with it is synonymous with 'mission' in 
'permission', 'commission', and 'remission' (which, as everyone knows, 
is the act of mitting, as in 'permit', 'commit', and 'remit').
