The notion </FONT></TT><BR><TT><FONT face="Courier New">is that some words collocate not just with particular other words ('arm' </FONT></TT><BR><TT><FONT face="Courier New">and 'akimbo'), but with semantic classes of words ('career' tends to </FONT></TT><BR><TT><FONT face="Courier New">collate with words that have a positive sense, whereas 'job' exhibits no </FONT></TT><BR><TT><FONT face="Courier New">such tendency).</FONT></TT><BR><BR><TT><FONT face="Courier New">I suspect this is a largely unexplored area of lexicography, although I </FONT></TT><BR><TT><FONT face="Courier New">could just be
ignorant.
