strongly supported by ... all of Indian country passed the Senate last
night at approximately 8:30 pm and goes to President Bush for his signature,
which all expect. The bill passed the House on a bi-partisan basis in the
last two months. This legislation would open the door to more Native
languages immersion and restoration grants by the federal Administration for
Native Americans (ANA). The National Indian Education Association has
sought Native languages legislation for 14 years!</SPAN></FONT></P>

particularly important in the last few days as Senator Coburn raised concerns
about the bill. After a meeting two days ago, Senator Coburn lifted his
hold on the bill and became an advocate for it to other Senators who were
