I see McJob is in the news again today. The OED defines this word as:<br>
<br>
<b>"An unstimulating low-paid job with few prospects, especially one
created by the expansion of the service sector".</b><br>
<br>
McDonalds disagrees, and they have organised a petition to Parliament
to change the
definition. MPs have joined in too. Some have signed an early day
motion saying that "McJob" is a derogatory term damaging to the people
who work for the company.<br>
<br>
Does this happen in other countries? Do interest groups lobby the
government to get dictionary definitions changed? Or is this something
peculiar to the UK?<br>
