The evidence that cat should come before dog is actually internal (from my native intuition), which I should have made more clear.<div><br></div><div>"dog-cat" gets 5.4 million Googits versus 2.94 million for "cat-dog," which gives a higher "cat/dog" ratio than I would have expected. Even worse of a blow to my intuition is that "catdog" blows "dogcat" away at 3.4 million versus 110 thousand. </div><div><br></div><div>There is a cartoon called "CatDog" and there are likely other contextual issues that muddle these figures, but nevertheless, it's clear that my intuition is not, err, very intuitive.
