In my last message, I forgot to mention explicitly that these WHAT+NP
constituents *only* occur in this construction,  which inherits 
extraction.

(1)a	You have such a nice face.
   b	*You have what a nice face.

(2)a	He proposed too complex a theory (for anyone to follow his argument).
   b	*He proposed what a complex theory.

The more I think about this , the more my feeble memory tries to tell me 
that all these facts are back in the old transformatinal literature 
somewhere.
