UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Texas at Austin
invites applications for a specialist in computational linguistics,
at the rank of Assistant Professor on a tenure track, or, in a
compelling case, at the rank of Associate Professor with tenure,
title commensurate to qualifications and expertise.
Sub-specialization is desirable in one or more of the following
areas: computational semantics, corpus linguistics, computational
language documentation, cognitive science. The position begins on
September 1, 2002 and is contingent on funding.

Duties include (a) Teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses;
(b) Direction of thesis and dissertation research; (c) Original
research and publication; (d) Directorship of the Department of
Linguistics Computational Linguistics Laboratory. The candidate must
demonstrate potential for excellence and productivity in all four
areas. PhD in Linguistics or Computer Science is required by August
20, 2002. Interested persons should send a letter of application,
curriculum vitae, list of courses they are prepared to teach, sample
published or other written work, and three letters of recommendation
