Department of Linguistics
University of Texas at Austin

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Texas at Austin invites
applications for a specialist in syntax; expertise in morphology or
semantics is desirable. Position will be at the rank of Assistant Professor
on a tenure track. The position begins on August 18, 2006. Position funding
is pending budgetary approval.

Duties include (a) Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in syntax and
related topics; (b) Directing thesis and dissertation research; (c)
Conducting original research and publication; (d) Advising undergraduate and
graduate students; (e) Performing departmental and institutional service.

Requirements include: (a) The Ph.D., awarded no later than August 18, 2006;
(b) Excellence or potential for excellence as a teacher, researcher,
advisor, and leader.

Interested persons should send a letter of application, curriculum vitae,
three letters of recommendation, evidence of past teaching performance or
teaching potential, a list of courses they are prepared to teach, and sample
published or other written work to:
