[LFG] First use of Functional Projections in LFG?

Hello all,

I'm writing the LFG Handbook chapter on cause structure and non-configurationality on rather short notice, and something I think it would be good to find out is the first use of functional projections in LFG; the first that I am aware of is Paul Kroeger's use of 'IP' in his analysis of Tagalog (Stanford thesis 1991, book 1993); does anyone know of anything earlier.
