Hi,

Powerset (part of Microsoft) is aggressively recruiting linguistic annotators for part-time, offsite work beginning as soon as January 2009. Working with a third-party human resource agency, we are looking for student linguists to help with two distinct projects:

1. LFG ParseBanking
2. General NLP Annotation and Evaluation

LFG ParseBanking (1) requires a strong background in syntax while (2) requires only basic competency in general linguistics -- especially in syntax and semantics.

Job descriptions for both roles are attached. Please forward them to anyone who you think may be interested/qualified as well as to anyone who might know potential candidates. Either assignment would be perfect for advanced undergraduates or underfunded graduate students, but even non-students with an interest in linguistics have worked well for us in the past. Note: we do not yet know whether we can hire people who are not already eligible to work in the US.

Thanks in advance for your help,
