Dear friends of LFG,

The Executive Committee of the International Lexical-Functional Grammar Association is pleased to announce the locations of the 2011 and 2012 LFG conferences.

LFG 2011 will be held at Hong Kong University.
LFG 2012 will be held in Bali.

This year we had a number of exceptionally strong proposals for hosting the LFG conference, and it was difficult for the Executive Committee to choose. ILFGA has for a number of years tried to hold its annual meetings at varying locations in the world, alternating between North America, Europe, and the Asia/Pacific regions. For 2011 and 2012, we have chosen two Asia/Pacific

However, one of the chief factors in our decision was the desirability of
coordinating LFG conferences with other linguistics conferences that
might draw interested audiences. So Hong Kong will host the
Association for Linguistic Typology meeting in 2011 and Bali will host
the International Conference on Austronesian Linguistics in 2012. The Executive Committee believes that coordination of our conference with these other international conferences has the potential to engender new work in LFG while simultaneously allowing LFG conference attendees to hear new work in linguistic typology and Austronesian linguistics.

In order to encourage geographic diversity in conference location, we plan to favor proposal from European hosts for the 2013
and 2104 conferences.

ILFGA is exceptionally grateful to the individuals and institutions that have offered to host these upcoming conferences. We offer our apologies to the institutions whose proposals we were unable to accept.
