I strongly suggest you use Mendeley. Not only is it free, and available
for windows, mac and linux, it searches the internet for reference
information for you, i.e. you can drag a folder full of pdf's into the
software window, and it will fill in everything you need for the
references section of your paper. It can also help you search for
individual papers. Learning curve is extremely shallow.<br>

It sounds like you could also use,<br>

It'll help you see which papers were cited by whom, among other things,
helping you get a better picture of the literature.<br>
